The weekend 20th and 21st April, Inverloch will be the hub of an innovative cultural event where the Gyuto Monks will construct a unique wall of Tibetan Prayer Wheels to be spun by all who pass by in the spirit of World Peace.

The program will include Harmonic Chanting, Meditation, Culture for Kids workshops where kids of all ages can make their own Prayer Flags, Magic Flowers and Tibetan Peace Weaving.

"A concert which commences with a blessing by His Holiness and features a special commission from Meryl Tankard.
Also includes The Gyuto Monks from Tibet, Australian Chamber Orchestra director Richard Tognetti performing Bach's Chaconne for solo violin, pianist Simon Tedeschi, the percussion group Synergy and aboriginal soprano Deborah Cheetham, and a performance of Ross Edwards' Dawn Mantras, which was first performed on the sails of the Opera House at the dawn of the millennium. Other featured artists include shakuhachi grand master Riley Lee, Cantillation vocal ensemble, didjeridu player Matthew Doyle, and saxophonist Sandy Evans."

"Concert Theme: Many rivers, one ocean
The Gyuto Monks of Tibet will welcome His Holiness with Chen Den and following the blessing by His Holiness will create a sacred space with their prayer Tantric Transformations, Ocean Dance, a specially commissioned tribute to HH Dalai Lama by Meryl Tankard takes as its first inspiration the poetic translation of the words dalai (Mongolian) and lama (Tibetan): Ocean of Wisdom. Synergy will explore a glistening, vibrating sound world of bells and gongs with contributions from Riley Lee's bamboo flute and the Gyuto Monks chant culminating in a deep ocean of pulsating tamtams."

As refugees living in India, the monks gather shoes and clothes to take back for the young orphan monks in the monastery, the old teacher monks and friends and families living in Tibetan settlement camps.
