The Gyuto Monks of Tibet Transformational
3-day Workshop
'The Jigsaw of Life'
The Abbot of Gyuto offers a New Year
outlook on how to live in peace and harmony in the world. It
is imperative that the sorrow and pain so recently experienced
in 2002 is not permitted to dominate our thoughts in 2003. We
must start afresh, live now and be happy in each moment - there
is nothing better that we can do.
Opening
night will include 'The Jigsaw of Life', an original public
talk by the Abbot of Gyuto Monastery - Khen Rinpoche Topgyal
Lama
and
popular Melbourne actor Kerry Armstrong
will launch a unique 500-piece 'Mandala of Yamantaka' Jigsaw which offers us the opportunity to practise
non-attachment to the material through an absorbing game for
individuals and families.
Life is like a Jigsaw
- It's a puzzle.
- You don't know what fits where.
- It takes shape slowly, over
time.
- There's a fleeting moment of
satisfaction ...
- Then it's all over, and we start
again!
The 3-day 'Jigsaw of Life' program
aims to sharpen our thinking and take us beyond idle resolutions
like getting out more, being nicer, meditating and keeping fit.
It will clarify the three basic principles of Buddhist training.
to see full program details.
to see a photo gallery of the program, including the launch with
renowned Australian actor, Kerry Armstrong
Kerry has recently launched a
new website called "One Voice For Peace" with fellow
Australian actors Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Gibney - an online,
pro-active expression of the desire for peace in the world in
these troubled times. You can lend your support of this project
by visiting the site at http://www.onevoiceforpeace.org

Wear the Wattle and Fly the
Flag for Australian Red Cross
As fires blaze across Victoria,
and other parts of our nation, teams of fully trained and resourced
Australian Red Cross volunteers are working around the clock
assisting our fire fighters and other emergency services in Victoria's
north-east, in Canberra and anywhere else they are required.
One group of Victorians have found a creative way to support
this work, and are launching their initiative on Australia Day.
At the Rotary Club's Sunday Camberwell
Market on Sunday 26th January, hundreds will help raise funds
for the Australian Red Cross with the purchase of the unique
'Aussie Pride' lapel pin, as they join with the Dalai Lama's
Gyuto Monks from Tibet in an Australia Day chant for World Peace.
The Gyuto Monks are the unique masters of a deep harmonic overtone
chanting. Trained over many years, each monk has the amazing
capacity to chant in three octaves at once and will be offering
this unique ritual in recognition of the extraordinary and far
reaching work of Australian Red Cross.
"As Abbot, on behalf of
the Gyuto Monastery, on behalf of the 500 monks still in the
Himalayas and the monks here in Australia, it is our privilege
to say thank you for the immense generosity of the Australian
people in helping us realise our 10 year dream to build a new
Gyuto Tantric University in India.
"We say, may there be peace
in Australia and peace in the world. We are pleased to join with
the people of Australia and support the work of Australian Red
Cross, always important but none more so than at this time during
the current bushfires " said Khen Rinpoche Topgyal Lama,
Abbot of the Gyuto Monks.
"The Aussie Pride Wattle
and Flag badge is a unique symbol of national pride" said
president of Nth Camberwell Rotary Club Graham Bishop. "We
believe that at a deep level, most Australians desire some tangible
way of showing our commitment to national pride, peace and unity.
The combined golden wattle and Australian flag is perfect and
sale of the badge provides us with the opportunity to support
the tireless work of Australian Red Cross."
The Aussie Pride Flag and Wattle
badges will be on sale at the market for $3 with all proceeds
going to Australian Red Cross. It can also be purchased from
any Jetset Travel branch.

wonderful reception by the local community for the 2003 short
summer visit by the Gyuto Monks, we have been able to put together
a follow up program to meet the demand.
A public program with the Abbot
of Gyuto - all welcome - concentrating on helping people deal
with the universal issues of fear and of pain and loss associated
with living and dying. From Friday evening throughout Saturday
and Sunday a series of valuable talks, meditation and practice
will offer people the tools to enable them to:
- clear away painful fears
- dissolve uncomfortable memories
- lift depression and sadness
The weekend will culminate in
the very special "Jawang Tantric Ceremony" for freeing
the soul - a traditional Tibetan Buddhist ritual applied to not
only those who have passed on but also those who are living with
negativity, self- doubt and disease.
