Khen Rinpoche Topgyal Lama,
Abbot of Gyuto Tantric University

Khen Rinpoche Topgyal Lama, Abbot of Gyuto Tantric UniversityKhen Rinpoche Topgyal Lama, Abbot of Gyuto Tantric University is visiting Australia for the first time. He is a gentle monk with a wise and humourous air. He has been studying the tantra at Gyuto Monastery for some years following completion of his study of the Buddhist sutras (texts) at Sera Mai Monastery in South India.

A Lharampa Geshe, which is the highest academic qualification possible to attain within the system, he now has the opportunity to pass on the teachings and put into practice, as is the Gyuto way, the core values of kindness and compassion.

Born in the Tsang area of Central Tibet known as Gyantse, he escaped with his parents and siblings in 1959 and lived in Tibetan refugee camps in first, Sikkhim then at Bylakuppe, for years before joining the monastery at 13 years of age.

Khen Rinpoche Topgyal Lama, Abbot of Gyuto Tantric UniversityHe is delighted to offer teachings as part of the Wisdom Tour of Australia and will concentrate on our understanding of karma/fate/destiny/meaning/purpose - in so far as these ideas and concepts affect our lives and the way we choose to live them.
