INVERLOCH Spinning Wall of Peace Program - April 19-21, 2002

GYUTO MONKS of TIBET
Inverloch Spinning Wall of Peace
RSL Hall and Health & Energy Education Centre
Friday, Saturday, Sunday 19th - 21st April, 2002

The weekend 20th and 21st April, Inverloch will be the hub of an innovative cultural event where the Gyuto Monks will construct a unique wall of Tibetan Prayer Wheels to be spun by all who pass by in the spirit of World Peace.

In November 2001, a Stupa for Enlightenment and World Peace was built at the Health and Energy Education Centre, 17 A¹Beckett Street, INVERLOCH by Master Stupa Builder, Thupten Khedup, and the Gyuto Monks of Tibet. Marjorie Jane Scott commissioned the Stupa and following the positive community response has now requested the Gyuto Monks to build a wall of Prayer Wheels at the same venue.

The program will include Harmonic Chanting, Meditation, Culture for Kids workshops where Œkids¹ of all ages can make their own Prayer Flags, Magic Flowers and Tibetan Peace Weaving.

The program will feature special sessions on:

  • Meaning and use of the Mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum"
  • Stupas and Spinning Wheels in Tibetan Culture by the Great Chantmaster of Gyuto Monastery, Lobsang Tsering
  • Mantra Rolling sessions, Mani Stone Painting and Tibetan Pen Calligraphy
  • Stalls will include Tibetan artifacts and the famous "Yak Burgers" with Gyuto Chilli Sauce
  • School children and community will be involved in making the mantras for the prayer wheels

The Prayer Wheels are being commissioned by Marjorie Jane Scott
