'The practice is kindness - the product is joy.'
3 days of Illumination
and Inspiration
with Gyuto Tantric Master Jampa Tashi
Mani Lhakang
Eight Gyuto monks will offer a daily program of harmonic chanting,
meditation, public talks and hands on involvement in the creation
of a very special Mani Lhakang - Temple of Compassion - housing
the model stupa structure made by the Gyuto Monks at Mount Martha
in 2001 with tsa tsa statues made by the local community in 2002
and new symbols of peace and precious memories to be contributed
by the community.
Tibetan people treat such structures
as sacred places which they visit to adorn with prayer flags
and it is hoped local people will continue to do this.
Muranna comprises acres of beautiful
gardens including a very special herb garden and a secluded lake
surrounded by bushland - the monks intend to make full use of
the landscape during the 3 day program.
Tara Puja
Tara - Goddess of Light , symbolizes abundance, peace, harmony,
love and health. Daily,Tibetan people recite the twenty one stanzas
of Tara prayer or her short mantra to bring about healing and
prosperity. On special occasions to seek a successful outcome
or for healing the sick, the Donchog or Light Ceremony is performed
by the monks culminating in the oral transmission of the Tara
mantra "Om Tare Tuttare Ture So Ha" - individuals requesting
such a transmission will be able to receive it direct from Gyuto
Ritual Master Jampa Tashi during the weekend.
As a female Buddha, Tara is often
the deity invoked in the process of sending prayers to the gods
via prayer flags, tsa tsa statues and other items associated
with a Mani Temple. The Gyuto Monks are famous for the power
of their pujas. Tibetans traditionally request the monks to do
a puja for a specific purpose such as to remove obstacles, protect
one from ill or bring good fortune and, in turn, they then make
offerings of money and food to the monks.
You are invited to follow this
custom if you wish.
Come along and join this positive
celebration of life!
