Wickid Arts Festival - 29 September - 6 October 2002 @ Gasworks Arts Park The monks of Gyuto Tantric University begin their 2002-2003 'Wisdom Tour' of Australia and make the first stop their 'home' at Gasworks Arts Park Graham St., Albert Park. ( Melways 2J G7 ). The monks will be in residence at the Wickid Arts Festival for children from 29 September to 6 October. Each day for the eight days of the festival, the Gyuto Monks will create a beautiful Sand Mandala richly coloured with marble sands from the Himalaya. The Mandala of Chakrasamvara - the Mother Mandala is two metres in diameter and is made by pouring the sands through a delicate metal funnel called a chak-pu. The intricate and detailed design is made entirely from memory and hasnt changed in over 500 years. Youll be able to find the monks via their brightly coloured blue and white Tibetan tent and larger marquee hung with traditional Tibetan fabrics and flags. Come and talk to the monks, practice Tibetan tantric art in the workshops and find out how to make the unique sound of the Gyuto Harmonic Chanting. Special Ceremonies.
