THE Atisha Buddhist Centre will provide a rare insight into the religion of Buddhism by hosting an open day on Sunday.

The world-famous Tibetan Gyuto Monks will also present workshops on harmonic chanting, meditation and art and craft.

The eight Gyuto Monks will also perform their unique harmonising at the Bendigo Town Hall on Saturday, before attending the open day on Sunday.

Wearing traditional dress, the monks will sing ancient chants, which have remained unchanged since 1472.

The open day begins at 9.30 am and will continue until 5.30 pm, with a variety of activities available.

Resident Tibetan Geshe, Konchok Tsering will host a public talk along with market stalls by Tibetan traders and local traders.

Tours of the Atisha Centre grounds, the Great Stupa site and the Thubetan Shedrup Ling Monastery will be conducted.

A selection of food and drink will also be available.

Tickets to Saturday's 7 pm performance cost $15 and can be purchased from the Atisha Centre 5446-3336 or Findings Cafe.
