Mapping out a wine tour A WINE touring map produced by
Willow Creek Vineyard 'reinforces the need for tourism operators
within a region to cooperate', the Minister for Tourism, Mr John
Pandazopoulos, said when launching the map on Friday. Mr Pandazopoulos said Victorians had a great interest in their own state 'and food and wine go hand in hand'. The map produced by Willow Creek clearly shows which roads lead to 36 of the peninsulas attractions, including wineries, hotels, golf courses, bed and breakfasts. Me wine touring map will be a catalyst for regional visits,' Mr Pandazopoulos said. 'It lists plenty of places people will want to visit - accommodation, food and wine, dolphin swims and places to go walking.' Mr Pandazopoulos said statistics proved the popularity of the peninsula and the increasing amounts of money being spent here by visitors. 'People love this region.' Mr Peter Harris, of Willow Creek Vineyard, presented the minister with a laminated copy of the map 'for his office wall' as well as a magnum of the winery's cabernet. 'Everyone on the peninsula is a part of tourism, including milk bars, fish and chip shops and newsagents,' Mr Harris said. 'I hope we can show even more businesses on the next map.' Mr Harris said the peninsula was being successfully marketed nationally and internationally. Return visitors to the peninsula, the Gyuto Monks of Tibet, were also present at the map launch along with Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Cr Bill Goodrem and other councillors.
